English

• Creative writing (100-125 words): Letter, application and email writing, picture story, dialogue writing, narrative writing, express ideas coherently on a variety of familiar topics. Organize thoughts and use appropriate vocabulary to describe personal experiences (an accident you witnessed etc.), surroundings (describe your apartment etc.), imaginative themes (what will you do if you find yourself in a land of lost treasures. Describe your adventure etc.) or celebration of events (the wedding of your cousin etc.).
  
• Grammar concepts: Nouns (common, proper, countable and uncountable), pronouns, adjectives (comparative and superlative), prepositions, possessive adjectives, verbs (verb forms), adverbs, adverbs of degree, adverbials of time, adverbial phrases, narrative & its types,, articles (a, an, the). Familiarity and proper usage of ""wh"" words. Punctuation (full stops, commas, question marks, capitalization, speech marks and exclamation marks). Apostrophe. Present, past and future tenses. Conjunctions and connectives.
  
• Reading comprehension: Analyze or draw inferences from an unseen passage (fiction or non-fiction), or picture by responding to questions about events, actions, or characters; explaining reasons for specific events, using details, facts, or information to answer questions, determining the accuracy of statements as true or false, predicting possible endings of the story. Demonstrate strong observational and interpretive skills.
  
• Listening: Watching short stories or movies and then answering questions or holding a discussion.
  
• Reading fluency rate: Reading fluency will be assessed at 110-130 words per minute.
• Speaking fluency : Speaking fluency will be assessed through interviews and presentations e.g. introduce yourself, how do you unwind after a busy day, express your thoughts on what you do to relax yourself after a busy day etc. Tell a story from the pictures. (110-130 words per minute).

  Mathematics

• Integers: Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of integers, word problems.
  
• Fractions and Decimals: Conversion of fractions to decimal and vice versa up to 3 decimal places, addition/subtraction/multiplication/division of decimals and fractions, rounding off decimals (up to three decimal places), simplification of fractions, and equivalent fractions.
  
• Area and Perimeter: Find the area and perimeter of rectangular and square regions; solve word problems on area.
• Volume: Understand volume; find volumes of cube and cuboid; solve word problems on volume.
  
• Percentage: Percentage of whole numbers, conversion of % into common fractions and vice versa.
  
• Data Handling: Average (Mean, Median, Mode) of ungrouped data.
• Angles: Sum of measure of the angles on a straight line and at a point, construction and measurement of angles with the help of a protractor, sum of measures of interior angles of a triangle and a quadrilateral, finding measure of an unknown interior angle of a triangle and a quadrilateral.
• Time: Word problems and time calendars.
