Written Assessment

English

• Creative writing: Picture description and express ideas on a variety of familiar topics (e.g. describing your school or classroom), personal experiences (e.g. a recent family outing).
  
• Grammar concepts: Nouns (common and proper), pronouns, adjectives, possessive adjectives, verbs (action words), and articles (a, an, the). Familiarity with basic ""wh"" words. Punctuation (full stops, commas, question marks, exclamation marks, capitalization). Singular/Plurals (s, es, ies, ves), conjunction words (and, but, because), prepositions (in, on, above, below, beside, infront), rhyming words.
  
• Reading comprehension: Read and comprehend an unseen passage or picture by answering questions that require: responses to, or descriptions of actions or people, using words or facts or information to answer questions, true or false responses.
  
• Listening: Watching short story or cartoons and answer simple questions or talk about what happened. Understand at least a 15-minute video in U.S English accent.
  
• Reading fluency rate: Reading fluency will be assessed at 30-60 words per minute.
  
• Speaking fluency (60-80 words per minute) : Watch short stories or movies and then answer questions or hold a discussion.
  

Mathematics

• Multiplication: Multiplication (3 by 1); understand commutative property of multiplication; apply multiplication tables (e.g. for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,7, 8 and 9) to solve simple problems.
  
• Division: Division (3 by 1) with and without remainders, division as making equal groups without remainders, division & multiplication connection, recall even and odd numbers upto 999, basic word problems.
• Place Value & Whole numbers: Three digit place value (ones, tens & hundreds), counting in numbers & words till 1000, skip counting (forward & backward) till 10, more/less than till 10, rounding to the nearest ten, ordering & comparing of 3 digit numbers in ascending & descending order; addition & subtraction of numbers on the number line, 3 digit addition & subtraction.
  
• Time: Read & state time in numbers, Recall number of days in a week, name of the days in a week and name of months.
  
• Shapes & Patterns : Recognizing pattern of objects or numbers and extend it, ordering of objects according to their numerical properties (e.g. size, weight or length), sort/classify objects by different properties(e.g. shape & color), identify 2D shapes ( circle, rectangle, square, triangle & oval) along with their sides & corners. difference between open & closed shapes.
  
• Graph: Bar & pictographs.
  
• Money: Identify the currency in terms of coins & rupees (e.g; Rs 1, Rs 2, Rs 5 and Rs 10, Rs 20,Rs 50,Rs 100) , select the correct amount of money to buy and sell items
  
• Measuring: Inches, half inches and fourth inches.
