English

• Creative writing: Picture, story and narrative writing, express ideas coherently on a variety of familiar topics. Organize thoughts and use appropriate vocabulary to describe personal experiences (an accident you witnessed etc.), surroundings (describe your apartment etc.), imaginative themes (what will you do if you find yourself in a land of lost treasures. Describe your adventure etc.) or celebration of events (the wedding of your cousin etc.).
  
• Grammar concepts: Nouns (common, proper, countable and uncountable), pronouns, adjectives, possessive adjectives, prepositions, verbs (action words), past verbs and articles (a, an, the). Familiarity and proper usage of ""wh"" question words. Punctuation—including full stops, commas, question marks, speech marks and exclamation marks. Homophones, singular/plurals (s, es, ies, ves), capitalization rules, such as beginning sentences and proper nouns with capital letters. apostrophe. conjunctions and connectives. Present and past tenses. Letter and email writing.
  
• Reading comprehension: Analyze or draw inferences from an unseen short story, passage (fiction or non-fiction): respond to questions about events, actions, or characters; explain reasons for specific events; use details, facts, or information to answer questions; determine the accuracy of statements as true or false; predicting possible endings of the story. Demonstrate strong observational and interpretive skills.
  
• Listening: Watching short stories or movies and then answering questions or holding a discussion.
  
• Reading fluency rate: Reading fluency will be assessed at 90-110 words per minute.
• Speaking fluency: Speaking will be assessed through interviews and presentations e.g. introduce yourself, what's your favorite hobby and why, express your thoughts on how can you save your environment etc. Comparison of pictures. (100-120 words per minute)

  Mathematics

• Add/Sub : Add/sub in columns up to 5 to 6 digit numbers; Patterns and skip counting; Order of operations (BODMAS) of whole numbers; Rounding off and estimating to the nearest tens to millions.
  
• Mathematical Operations: Add and subtract whole numbers up to 9 digits, multiply whole numbers (multiplier 3 digit number/multiplicand 5 digit number), divide whole numbers (divisor 2 digit number/dividend up to 999999), word problems, BODMAS
  
• Fractions: Fractions on a number line; Comparing fractions, simplifying fractions to simplest form, equivalent fraction, convert fractions (e.g. mixed to improper and vice versa); Operations on fractions (Like and unlike), word problems
  
• Time: 24 hour clock
  
• Number System: Multiples and factors, prime numbers, divisibility rules, lowest common multiple, highest common factors. .
  
• Measurement: Length/distance in inches & half inches, fourth inch, cm, mm, feet, yards, miles, m, km; Weight in pounds, Ounces, grams & Kg; Volume in Milliliters & Liters.
  
• Decimals: Conversion of decimal to fractions and vice versa, understand place value of digits to the right of the decimal point up to 1000ths; Add, subtract and multiply decimals.
