Learning Hours – Balanced & Purposeful
Time Utilization
At Drakken, we value the time our students spend at school and believe that quality matters more than quantity. Our learning schedule is thoughtfully designed to balance academic rigor with students’ well-being.
In the Early Years (Reception), there is a clear emphasis on joyful learning. We follow a no-homework policy at this stage — all written tasks are completed during class hours. Children are simply encouraged to watch a short video at home that aligns with classroom concepts.
This method not only reduces academic stress on young learners but also ensures parents can be involved without feeling overwhelmed. The classroom environment is supportive, structured, and focused on building foundational skills through hands-on activities and teacher-led instruction.
Our standard school timing is 6 hours for Junior School and 6.5 hours for Senior School , carefully balanced to ensure effective learning without fatigue. School may remain open on some weekends for special events or academic purposes. In such cases, an exception applies to MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) students, who are scheduled for additional sessions as part of their personalized support plans.
- No written homework in Reception classes.
- All academic work completed within school hours.
- Daily school timings: 6 hours for Junior School and 6.5 hours for Senior School.
- MTSS students receive extended weekend support as needed.
- Focus on structured learning during class and light reinforcement at home.
Drakken’s approach to learning hours ensures that students enjoy a productive school day while maintaining their physical and emotional well-being. This balance contributes to happier, healthier, and more motivated learners.
