Age Requirement: Only children aged 9 years or younger are eligible to join Grade 3 class.

  • Creative writing: Picture, story and narrative writing, express ideas coherently on a variety of familiar topics. Organize thoughts and use appropriate vocabulary to describe personal experiences(e.g. a recent trip to a hill station), surroundings(e.g. describing your classroom), or celebration of events(e.g. how did you spend your Eid).
  • Grammar concepts: Nouns (common, proper, countable and uncountable), pronouns, adjectives, possessive adjectives, verbs (action words), past verbs and articles (a, an). Familiarity and proper usage of ""wh"" words. Punctuation (full stops, commas, question marks, speech marks, capitalization and exclamation marks). Rhyming words, singular/Plurals (s, es, ies, ves). Apostrophe. Present indefinite and past indefinite tenses. Conjunctions (and, but, because, for, so).
  • Reading comprehension: Read and comprehend an unseen passage or picture by answering questions that require: responses to, or descriptions of, events, actions or people; reasons for an event or action; use words or facts or information to answer questions; true or false responses.
  • Listening: Watching short stories or movies and then answering questions or holding a discussion.
  • Speaking fluency: Speaking fluency will be assessed through interviews and presentations (e.g. introduce yourself, what's your favorite hobby and why, your thoughts on how you can keep your room clean etc.).
  • Mathematics

  • Multiplication Multiplication (3 by 1); understand commutative property of multiplication; apply multiplication tables (e.g. for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,7, 8 and 9) to solve simple problems.
  • Division: Division (3 by 1) with and without remainders, division as making equal groups without remainders, division & multiplication connection, recall even and odd number upto 999, basic word problems.
  • Time & Calendar : Read & state time ( for the 12 & 24 hour clock), recall the length of a day (How many hours in a day) and days in a week, learn number of days in different months and the name of months.
  • Place Value: Four digit place value (ones, tens, hundreds & thousands), recall the numbers till 1000 (in numbers & words), comparing (4 digit numbers ) greater than/less than & equal to), ordering 4 digit numbers in ascending/descending order, rounding/Estimating to nearest tens, hundreds & thousands, add & subtract 4 digit numbers till 9999, understand commutative property of addition (Changing order of numbers in addition does not change the result), ordinal numbers up to 10, write the numbers before, after and between (4-digit numbers), addition & subtraction word problems
  • Shapes & Patterns : Identify number of edges, corners and boundaries of common shapes (e.g. circle, rectangle, square and oval etc.); show familiarity with terms such as locus, curve, open and closed curves, straight locus and a line segment.
  • Fraction: Recognize & write halves, thirds & quarters, how to write proper fractions (with denominators up to 9).
  • Graph: Bar & pictographs.
